BIRTHDAY FUN!
Sadie went to her first kid's birthday party today - that of her second cousin, 6-year-old Evelyn. The big kids provided much entertainment for Sadie as she layed prone on the floor kicking her legs. She did well for most of the day until she suffered a major meltdown as a result of having missed her afternoon nap. There's no doubt that she is acutely teething. She's been fussier than usual, she power-puked this morning and her cheeks are rosy. (Although the rosy cheeks could be from the cold Buffalo weather.) Still no signs of an actual tooth...

Ok, three months into life with Sadie and we have yet to establish much of a following for our blogging... we suspect that lack of content may play a role... and we hope to change that now with a little more juicy material about the life of our little munchkin and her parents.
Ok, not sure how juicy it is but there is some news to report: We're here! Arrived in London last night after a pretty ok day of travel... Virgin Atlantic upper class certainly helps... Sadie was a good sport went with the program although it is becoming increasingly clear that she does not like confinement (car seats, airplanes, does this indicate a future rebellious streak??)
The place here is not large -- small one bedroom and tiny kitchen... but it is comfortable, and the location is great. South Kensington, right by the tube, close to V&A and Natural History museums and not far from Hyde Park.
Of course, this being London, it's raining on day 1!

Three Months!!!
Sadie celebrated her three-month birthday this week! It's so difficult for me to believe that she has been a part of our lives for three months already and yet I can't imagine my life without her. Our days are filled with the routine feedings and naps, interspersed with walks and outings to Baby and Mommy Yoga or some other "mother's group". Despite the routine, she seems very willing to go with program when we deviate from the familiar. We've done a lot of traveling in July and August - once to Binghamton to meet her GiGi; twice to Buffalo - including one trip via airplane; a wonderful venture up to Tanglewood with Sadie's cousins; and a short jaunt to Bear, DE to watch Daddy compete with Uncle Bronson in the Lum's Pond triathlon. A week from tomorrow, Sadie will leave for her first, in no doubt a long life of international travels. We'll be spending the month of September in London!

Day of Firsts
OK, so most days of Sadie's life are filled with "firsts", but today seemed to be full of monumental events (for a newborn). We're in the middle of a heat wave here in Maplewood. It had reached 91 degrees by 10 am. By the afternoon Sadie had experienced her First Day of 100-plus weather. Sadie seemed to tolerate the heat rather well, thanks to her Daddy's weekend-long air-conditioner installation project. At about 3:00, in the middle of yet another post-feeding diaper change (where, incidentally, Sadie peed on me AGAIN - I'll never learn), the power went out. Although this old house cools off pretty quickly, so too does it heat up. Thankfully, Alison was home from work and called to report that she was also without power. Seems as though all of Maplewood and several of the surrounding towns had lost power due to an explosion at a local power station. To avoid slow-roasting Sedona and myself, I decided to do what every good New Jerseyite does in the face of inclement (or nice) weather - head to the nearest mall. Thus Sadie's First Trip to the Mall. This proved to be somewhat more complicated than I originally thought it might be, due in large part to the fact that all three (yes, three) of our strollers were in the garage behind a garage door that requires electricity to open.
